Sounds like it running on Overdrive

Last year I bought a used 2019 Tacoma SR5 with 32k miles. Just turned 90k. And I started to notice a noise that is very annoying. Please excuse the fact that I’m not mechanically inclined, I’ll try to describe as best I can. It’s sounds like the engine running at a higher RPM than what it is showing on the dial . This humming sound is quite noticeable in the cabin. As I accelerate it feels like it’s running on Overdrive even though it seems the transmission shifting properly. This happens only when the truck is moving. When on idle also can hear a faint clicking sound that reminds me of a diesel engine. I have no warning lights on or codes . And I have had done the following maintenance work done since this started. Routine 5k oil and filtre, 4 new tires balance and alignment. Front brake pads, Rear differential and Transmission flush. Any ideas?

Idk, but that's certainly no way to describe overdrive...it'd be just the opposite. The engine in these trucks if the v6 are direct injection with a cleaning cycle, so thats why it sounds like a diesel. As for your odd noise, it can be almost anything from a serpentine belt tensioner going south to a faulty driveshaft u-joint. You really need to see an auto mechanic to check it out, otherwise its just guesswork here.
