Tragedy in School

3 shot. 2 students, 1 teacher. A charter high school.

Victims: 2 students dead, teacher in critical condition.

Suspects: 2 arrested, 1 escaped on foot.

I am fully supportive of the 2nd amendment. Although, I believe it is too easy for anyone to obtain a weapon.

Certainly, have trouble justifying the civilian need for military grade weapons.

I mean I can't own an M1A1, assuming I could afford it.

Was that the one in Des Moines I heard on the news?

We need much stricter judge's, and prosecutors to put the bad guys away for a long time, or for good. it will deter many from committing these crimes. We have plenty of gun laws, its just that their not enforceed enough.
With this open border that is letting everyone throughout the world in, I think its just a matter of time before we get a huge wakeup call.

Yes....

1 suspect committed suicide. The suspect who fled has been apprehended, so 2 remain in custody.

@tacojoel Agreed on the judges and getting the immigration situation in hand.

I also believe a license & insurance should be required for possession of a weapon along with vetting. Just about everyone over the age of 16 yo is able to pilot a lethal weapon......a car. These all require license for the operator and the vehicle, insurance is required for the operator. Remember, driving a car is a privilege, not a right. A specific age is required to consume alcohol.......weapons should have a similar requirement. This age was established to help assure a level of maturity to handle drinking, although, some never mature.

But this is just my opinion. Not wanting to open a heated debate over weapons. Our country is in a pitiful situation on this issue. Too many people don't think. Many people have knee-jerk reactions which typically end up in stupidity.

Our brilliant Mrs Gov wished the 2 deceased victims a quick recovery........ she is such a door knob.

We have some of the strictest gun laws in the country here in our state, but look what still happened at sandy hook years ago. If parents or individuals don't lock up their guns, it's a recipe for disaster.
Heck we have 2 senators that between both of them together are dumber than a box of rocks. Ones just plain stupid while the other is a flat out lier.

yeah......that is the real tragedy which sets up all the subsequent events....................

You can have all the laws you want, but without enforcement then the law isn't worth the paper its written on.

Sandy Hook was a cascade of events which made the outcome much worse. The weapons used were a catalyst.

You claim to be "fully supportive" of the second amendment, then qualify your support. Worst sort of second amendment "supporter" are those that waffle and qualify their support. That's just the wedge anti Bill of Rights folks seek to use.

Just in case any of you have forgotten or never even read it, this is the entire text of the Second Amendment to the Constitution.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

For those who don't understand the word infringe here is the definition.

To encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another

@DonDrake.

Ok....lets go extreme. Based on your script, it would be ok for a known terrorist to own, fire, use at their will, any weapon of choice including machine guns without any responsibility........

No.

My only "infringements" would be vetting and license and insurance. Military grade weapons would be available to military only, not civilians.
I s'pose you could call these "infringements", but you must consider the safety of others and place responsibility onto the owners. None of these "infringements" would violate the law or rights.

Please do not lump me in with those who wish to remove and ban all firearms.

I'm done on this before this spirals into a never ending debate with name calling and disrespectful posts.

One last comment.

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Nothing wrong with military appearing rifles as long as they're kept semi-automatic with the illegal use of bump stocks, and with restrictions on magazine capacity. They make fine hunting weapons being lighter, easier to carry.

I guess it depends where these teachers do their teaching. In city school systems here which are unionized, they do as well as our police, plus they get most of the summer off as long as the have tenure, yet for some reason their students come out dumber, and lazier every year. The public school system imo is a failure. A buddy of mine sent 3 of his kids to a private catholic school while his oldest son went to a public school. His 2 younger girls and his young son are light years smarter, and were way further ahead by the time they were ready for high school.

The problem is once we allow them to ban one type of weapon based solely on how it looks it gives them a foothold to continue banning other types of weapons! They'll never stop! At what point do you say we have enough gun control?

These "military style" weapons i.e. the AR-15, SKS, etc. are no more powerful than any hunting rifle and function in the same manner as any semi-automatic rifle! The anti-gunners just don't like them because they look "evil" looking!

It will eventually move on from that to banning all semi-automatic rifles which would include my Ruger 10/22! Then eventually a total outright ban on all guns!
