What Vehicles lead you to your Tacoma?

If I include the cars that didn't run and the cars that used to race on the dirt track I'd add...
1933 Chevy Coupe (street rod project)
1948 Mercury Coupe (another street rod project)
1956 Studebaker President (dirt track stock car)
1955 Studebaker Commander Coupe ('nother stock car)
1957 Chevy (yet another stock car)
1967 Ford Fairlane (last of my stock cars)

For some reason getting married got in the way of the first rod project and the birth of my son got in the way of the next one.

I landed on the Tacoma because after driving the Civic for less than a year i realized my lifestyle doesnt allow for a sedan (hunting, fishing, ect) and that i get bored with them awfully quick (only had that A4 for a few months too).

I have a lot of experience with Jeeps and, even though i like them, i will never buy a new one. Reliability and longevity are not what Jeeps are known for. I drive way too many miles a year to sink money into a Chrysler product that will fall apart in 100k miles.

I've always wanted a Tacoma, so i went and drove a couple. Fell in love with a 2014 MGM 5 speed 2.7 access cab and the rest is history. Good gas mileage, fits my needs well, and great reliability. I think I'll be a Tacoma owner from here on out!

Let's just say that before the 05 model I could not physically get in one:sad:
I tried the 05 on for size and :). It had the right options, so I bought it.

First post!

Just picked up my Tacoma last weekend and loving it. Looking forward to getting familiar with the forum. It was time for a truck. I 'm pushing 50 years old and could never list all the cars I've owned, but the car in the pic was my last: 04 STI, 600whp. It was fun, but it gets old when every teenager you meet wants to race you. I'm soooo over that. Tacoma is a 2014 double cab V6 TRD 4x4 sport. I'm wanting some big tires now but not sure where to start. I built my own Subaru engines so I'm tech savvy but trucks are new to me so any guidance on where to start would be appreciated. I would like to start by lifting it and having a 2nd set of rims/off-road tires.

Welcome.

Now every other truck driver will want to race you. F150 5.0s and Ecopoops will spank us but I'm not sure of the other trucks. :)

We can spank first gen duramaxs tho :) and if you want to lift, depending on how much money you want to spend bilstein 5100s with a add a leaf in the rear.

I'm not interested in power with the Tacoma. From what I came from there's nothing I could do to it to get there; at least not w/o spending $$$$$$ :)

I had coilovers on my STI and knew how to adjust ride height with those. From looking at pics of the Bilstein's I'm not seeing how they can provide lift.

They are an adjustable shock for different ride heights, I plan to just buy add a leaf for the rear, larger coils up front with the bilstein shocks all round. If you want more you could prob do a shackle drop or a longer shackle. And body lifts are a cheap and affective way to bring the vehicle up higher and not mess with or ruin suspension components. My suggestion to you. Is add a lead, larger coils and bilstein shocks. Easy as that. And welcome to the truck world or one amazing truck!

The front shocks have adjustable lower collars. They can be set in 3 or 4 (can't remember) positions for different height levels. Toytec makes a kit to convert over to fully adjustable ride height or you can buy high end coilovers.
