The Q & A Thread

If it was painted with automotive paint and cured or clear coated it would be no different than your truck. The care would be the same. If it was rattle canned and a primer was used it would be fine to wash with the auto soap and water. Waxing auto paint regularly is a good idea. IMO.

But doesn’t the paint need time to settle?

The things that are going to prolong or effect cure/dry time of the clear coat or second coat is
  • Temperature
  • Environment
  • Weather
  • Materials being used
  • The one who did the painting job
  • The products
If your buddy is a pro painter knew what he was doing and used quality product you're down to weather, temp and environment.
And those will only slow it down not prevent it from curing/drying.
If you live where its dry and over 65 degrees within 3 days after the paint job its fine. If your trucks been parked in the sun for longer than 48hrs total since you’ve had the cap painted it’s cured.
Wash and wax your truck tomorrow or wait 90 days. It’s your truck and your friend who painted it. You know better than I do.

I know he did a good job, he said wait about a month to be safe. I just wanted to hear your guys’s input

I think he’s asking about performance chips. Lol.
If not and it’s paint chips.
I buy the factory paint touch up tubes from the dealer. They are like $13. This clear coat would be a good idea to put on top though.

Maybe he’s talking about Potato Chips.
