How often do you park beside another Tacoma….

So I know this picture doesn't meet the criteria of this thread but ya gotta see this ! We just got back from Puerto Rico and the US Virgin islands by way of Carinval Cruise Lines. We signed up for one of those shore excursions and I spotted a local lady (transplant from the New England states) with an unbelievable gen1 1999 Tacoma 6-cyl, regular cab, longbed, 4WD, manuel hubs, manuel windows, manuel locks, and AM-FM radio. The gal said I could take it for a quick spin and wow, it took me back to yester-year. 131,000 miles and considering the salty air, it was in pretty good shape. Freaking awesome. I saw a ton of Tacomas that I will be posting on the "Tacoma Paparazzi" thread.
I still have no clue with this gen1

Yellow was not a colour these were made, at least in the USA, afaik?
4wd with a v6 in a single cab
That is also not something made for the USA market, last year for that was 1997..
Probably because of government regs at the time but IDK!

Was getting ready to leave Walmart today (yes, another booze run for the wife), and a gen2 pulls up beside me in an unbelievable sweet 2002 SR5 extended cab, 5-speed manuel. He says "love the color of your pickup." I say back to him," Love that gold color of yours." He said he bought it brand new, paid for the lift kit and rims, did the scheduled maintenance, replaced the clutch just one time for eight hundred and fifty bucks, and it's his daily driver. I couldn't believe it. And then I asked him, how many miles on the odometer ? He says 351,000 all original. And then he walked away like it was no big deal. Ya gotta love Texans. :)
I wish the clutch I am needing soon will only be 850$. But I honestly doubt it...
Its probably going to be closer to 1500$ and perhaps even 1700$
I shall have to start hunting down some estimates and vette these slopshops a bit better

No, you are absolutely correct. There was no Yellow exterior offered in 1999.I checked. If you take a closer look the roof is white. My guess is it may have been used as a "Taxi" like vehicle to move tourists around the island. The last yellow exterior for Toyota pickup trucks was around 1982 or so. Someone posted a picture of an old TV commercial showing one. Wait a minute…. I think it was you.:D

Well he's a gen2 but no badges. Steel wheels so I'm guessing he's an SR. Great shape by the way.
Spotted in parking lot shared by Home Depot & Target.

Driving home today and saw this sweet gen3 super white Tacoma SR5. It has that "plastic-like" camper shell that I've seen just a few times. Not sure if pickup owners are installing these on their rigs because it's cheaper than a real camper shell or if its the latest trend started by millennials.

I think that shell is a canvas shell. I've seen them around. Probably good for camp trips or to transport goods that need to stay dry. Those are lightweight and fold up like a tent.

Hmmmmm.......just went thru that site. Looks like a pretty slick system with some advantages over a hard shell or a hard tonneau cover.

Not horribly priced. $949.

The wifey asked me to go the spirits store today for some of her favorite spirits and as I'm leaving, this gorgeous gen3 OR pulls up beside me. Love that six foot box and his husky toolbox.

Well, technically, we were parked besides each other today at a stoplight so I'm gong to count this one (lol). Got off on I-635 to go to the credit union and spotted not one, but two gen3 tacos. The blue one was an OR with a nice chrome rear bumper and the white one was an SR5. Looks like part of his bumper is missing….

So today I'm doing errands and park beside this beautiful gen3 Red Barcelona in front of the spirits store. Former Marine decal on the left side of the chrome bumper but what I've never seen is the trailer hitch with a 2nd mini hitch next to it. It's microscopic and off to the side. What in the world would that be used for ? ? ?

Don't know I've never seen that setup before!

The mini-hitch is for a trailer sway bar or load equalizer set up.
