? Where is the Gen1 Taco traffic at ?

Great looking 1st gen base model Jay! I noticed it only has 185,000 on the odometer, not much more than mine at 171,400! That 60+ mile round trip commute I've been making every day for the last 7 or 8 months is really racking up the mileage on it, not to mention all the $$$$ it's costing me in go go juice! Will be glad when I can go back to Mesquite where my round trip commute was approx. 20 miles!

You probably mention it before I forget lol

You need a prius like my wife uses, instead of driving that brick at highway speeds. She recently retired, but use to do a 70 mile round trip to work every day. That car's power is underrated, plus it gets nearly 50 mpg, and cheap to own. She wants a new one this summer when selling this one. It's currently got more mileage on the odo than your gen1 taco.

Mine is a 2002! Great little truck the only thing I have against it really is that the 2.4 is really gutless! However if it needs very little maintenance, I just keep the oil changed on a regular basis, just had the belts replaced and a front brake job a few months back! I need to to get the tranny serviced , just haven't gotten around to it!

That equals car payments! I hate car payments! Lol!

Never had vehicle, or any toy payments. Thats how you never get ahead. Too many folks can't do without, and spend their money on foolish stuff. I always invested much of what I made till I had the cash to buy what I needed. Everyone likes cash....you can usually get a much better deal on used vehicles, or any labor.

You want to talk gutless...I bought a used 1978 toyota wolverine that had a 4 speed, and 20r engine. Truck felt like it had 90hp.

I agree, the only vehicle payment I've ever had in my life was back in '98 when I bought a used '93 Ford F150 XLT swb from a local used car lot!! I was a first time car buyer and I can still remember the price on the windshield at $7,995! I was working at a Firestone store at the time mounting tires and doing oil & lube etc., put in a lot of overtime even working 6 days a week for much of that time! I took large portions of the overtime I was making to save towards buying another truck! I saved $5,500 which would make a huge down payment for the truck but my dad advised me to pay $4,500 down instead of the whole amount I had saved and double up on the payments which I did! I had a 3 year loan on the truck and paid it off in 2 years!

That was my first time car buying experience, my first vehicle was my grandpa's '66 Ford F100 Custom Cab swb with a 352 and a 3 speed manual! It was given to me! I know Tacojoel said he's not particularly fond of these trucks! Lol!

Oh, geez, you bring up a 66 ford f-100. Reminds me back in trade school when 17 years old. I had a part time job doing deliveries for my boss. His shop had a fairly new f-100 I-beam, 3 on the column, 6 cylinder that had the wonkiest steering on the planet. It was an adventure every day to drive it. I still have some bad dreams driving that truck.

Yeah you've told that story on this forum before in a different thread, that's why I said that I know you're not particularly fond of these trucks! Lol!

One thing you can say for the '66 F100 is that they were all metal, even the dashboard! Unlike all the girly trucks they build now that's made with all the cheap plastic sh*t and the touch screen for everything! Etc. etc.

Everyone here keeps bringing up bs about plastic vs metal. Plastics/composites are lighter making for a more efficient vehicle. I never had issues with plastics in any truck I've owned. They're safer in a crash also.

Plastics do become brittle over time, then crack and break easily! The materials may be much lighter but they damage easily in a collision! It doesn't take much of an impact anymore for insurance companies to total a vehicle!

I guess it might be where you are in the u.s. that plastics can get brittle. I've never had a vehicle longer than 20 years to find out. Any plastics were always the same as new in any truck, or car we had.

Idk, maybe he's got a thin skin, or has just moved on. I can't remember if he's the guy I criticized for killing a rattle snake for no good reason, but thats the last heard of him. At any rate he needs a better reason than that for disappearing.
