a new chapter begins... the road to 400k

Rear differential usually takes about 3-4 qts. The front one around a qt. or so.
Your old fluid doesn't look all that bad. I've seen worse in 30k miles.

i don't know why mine took less than 2.5 qts after letting the old drain drip drip for an hour(ish)
do U know why it did not come anywhere close to 3qts?

now it is having weird idle issues at cold-engine startup in the mornings every day since idunction clean

iac valve gummed up n' buggered?

Suggest to open the Owner's Manual to verify the capacity of your rear diff.

If you filled it until the oil ran out of the fill hole, then its full.

You need to read in your manual, for what your differentials amount of gear oil they hold. Some models with lockers hold more. As a rule an sr, or sr5 model, its less. As said, with the truck on a level surface....fill it till the gear oil flows from your fill plug, then your full.

i don't honestly know whut became of that manual... might not have seen it in 26 years  i just hit the road then and off i went wheelin'
those bookWorms might've also gotten to the title of it IDK

this truck has no locker so its the small axle housing is the most likely root cause of the fill being below whut i've read on the interWebs for normal capacity
next time i may or i may not stick inspection camera in there to check it out for maybe sludge built up in on them corner crevices and whutnots

turnt 337,700
2400 mile oil level check... level look good still to top dot on checkStick
that PS level though is seemingly to not keep levelfull for all that much longer anymore like it had been over the summer months
weep must be getting worse now that its been +30k miles since weep first spotted under there... or else another weep popping up
12-1-23 cannot get here sooner enough

To get that drum off the hexkey must be turned clockwise to undo rather than the normal counterclockwise
Why??

Fish sticks? I hope their at least pollack vs some mystery bunch of glued together fish parts I wouldn't feed to my cat.
I did a rotisserie chicken for lunch today with roasted taters, and my freshly grown green beans. Got some roasted cauliflower breaded florets for snacking on later. Their cooling down now.

that eastWood power tool did a very lackLustre job in removing the powdercoating and rust build from the lower fuel tank shield
perhaps the drums i bot to go with were not the most aggressive grit

Anything as such that needs stripping, I just truck the piece into town. There's a media blasting company not far from me that will get it down to bare metal in no time. Really doesn't pay for me to even fool with that stuff.

i did drop it off at a place that does some kind of bead blasting for wheels
the media they use must be inadequate for this application because it looked barely half clean removed and barely touched the powder coating that had not flaked off

i keep forgetting to order a new box or two of black lug nuts from RockAuto to replace the broken ones that shop in western Colorado did a number on to take wheels off... must've broken the end caps on 10 of them with their impact lug removal tool... not even sure what happened why it happened it never happen before all the many times of tire rotations
