a new chapter begins... the road to 400k

gotta get appt set at DT still to get these high-mileage tires replaced
almost have 128k miles on'em with 4 and 5 32s of tread left, its unreal how long-lasting they have been
with mildish cupping on the inboard sides nowhere near the cupping on the 1st set of stock GY wranglers had

CotDamn the stone of fire for the puckJob they did that I am having to fix proper

If you have tire cupping on the inside, then you have multiple suspension problems. Typical causes: worn shocks, worn UBJ or LBJ, worn tie rods, bad wheel alignment, worn bushings........

Frankly, I'd hold on new tires until the cause of the cupping is repaired. Otherwise, the new tires will also begin cupping.

And only one nail picked up n those tires in that time in Connecticut or Massachusetts

yota Dealer that did that driver bearing again + LBJ said the UBJ checked ok no play

It had bad cupping before it ever made it to 100k miles on those factory installed tires
And I recall reading somewhere that it's normal on gen1 to do that
But Don't recall ever having a wheel alignment checked back in the early days and miles

Today It took nearly six hours hobbled and crippled under to check both lbjs and proper cotter key pin them ...which also included a break for suppertime
And check this crap out
That new lbj on the driver side took at least an inch of turn of the torque wrench on the castle before it clicked to spec
F?uck me already it was that damned loose coz of no cotter key pin for safety from two weeks ago
E.D.T.

Had to be ma, here in connecticut we have mostly sheet metal, and drywall screws that end up on our roads.

all i can remember is one construction area in the late evening on route 202
big intersection torn up to the dirt underneath it was dusty and rough ridin'
but that nail coulda been from anywhere

cotter key pin blanked.jpg

I barely had enough clearance under the front here to hobble under without the shoulder getting stuck and wedged on the splash shield.
still took nearly six hours and its not completely inspected yet....

I can see why you claim you're getting hacks to work on that truck. I'd be power washing that chassis clean before working with all that snot.

that would be CV axle snot that all whipped out of shredded inboard boots

Very well-paid hacks at that...

rockAuto only has 4 just 4! lug nuts in black to fit my taco that that one shop in Colorado roached the caps right off with their impact tool
FML... need about 10 of 'em

genuine OEM lugs cost nearly 3x as much as the dorman brand at rockAuto

Your finally getting wise that you need not oem for everything. Many oem parts as such are the same from other manufactures, just rebranded with 2-3 times the cost.

i betchu anything the lugs that the caps broke were Dorman ones from RockAuto i bot a year or a couple years ago

That much grease from the CV Axle boots.....is not good news. At minimum you need boots. Suggest to just replace the CV axle, Do both sides.

NAPA has good parts for reasonable price.

Not too long ago, I replaced the CV axles on my Gen2 with NAPA parts. IIRC, the cost was about $170 for both axles and free shipping. Ordered on a Friday night, delivery was the following Tuesday.

Don't delay too long, could damage the wheel bearings.

New cv boots inboard and outboard on backorder until December I was told by parts dept
