a new chapter begins... the road to 400k

checking obscure oil level loss...

800 mile check...

level is good-2-go at the full dotmark

well now that outside temps are falling over the ledges the rattle probably isn't going to pop up if its a hot-weather issue
a first frost is expected around here tomorrow

yessir, i had to wheel it 100 miles to Sioux City today to get a faint trigger rattle in 5th gear up route 20/75 climbing out of the Missouri River Valley
very faint ping ping ding ping....
nothing noticed in 3rd gear getting back on highway 29 after a McDs break, may have to wheel it south where its warmer out lol

today marks 317 months of livin' the tacoDream
it is one for the record books?

should i treat it to some fresh yota pink?
its been a bit over 22k miles since that leaky lower radiator hose replaced DiY
sure wish i could rate myself on that carFax garage ledger

I don't think they give out a trophy for just chasing asphalt miles, or even crawling under vehicles to take pictures of rusty frames.

tire rotation and tread check on for today at DT
gotta see where those treads are at and how much further can run on 'em
i should contact Michelin corp to see if there is a record # miles reported on the defender series
lol

DT told me a tire rotation now will do not much good to prolong them now... they have a couple thousand miles or so left to go
so i gotta schedule a mount and balance procedure
thankfully i bot some new Michelins about 18 months ago to put on when the time is coming
was told they were 199$ then and now the same rubber is 239$
160$ savings into my pokcets for gettin' whilst the gettin' was good enough

I can tell you, I won't buy Michelins again. They didn't last on my tundra as long as I thought they should for what they cost. My brother likes Yokohama, so I might give them a try as I've never use them.

did you have them regularly rotated?

Wrenched the fuel tank lower shield off... Put antiseize on them bolts 4 years ago when I reinstalled it after a powdercoating so they came out with ease, but messy!

Got a quote of 100$ to blast and redo the powdercoating
That seemed a bit rich

Got a quote of 20$ to just blast it clean which is reasonable I suppose
Then I am going to degrease, etch and por15 the plate on both sides and see how it goes

found a paperClip pinned on UBJ

the side that buttsup to the fuel tank looks in better condition that would collect dirt and such

I'd hit it with an etching primer before painting it.

i am doing the POR15 thing, see how it goes
gotta get sum degreaser and etcher for that amount of coverage
bot six bottles of paint on sale at AAP, they are so little! for one-time use it or it goes bad?
