Undercoating

Please understand the frame is the major structural part. It is a critical part in an accident. Or hauling a load. Braking, cornering, accelerating.......

A compromised weakened frame is a problem and a safety issue.

No one makes a steel frame immune to corrosion.

I know we all wish the frames would last forever and the states not apply ice remover to the roads. But, that is not life. Frankly, ice remover on the roads is a better situation than slippery roads.

When the frame deteriorates to a point, then it needs either to be replaced or scrapped. Many times, cost makes the decision.

got you one of these??

tacojoel, do you know what the best temps to use the cosmoline wax spraycan?
the forward-facing section of my rigs rear axle housing took a rather nasty beating under there this past winter, its unsightly
i gotta get under there and clean with brakleen and spray the black cosmo to make it DDG

it maybe getting into the 60s here sooner or later

I did my chassis when it was humid in the upper nineties all suited up head to toe, but I spent time the day before with the pressure washer blowing the chassis clean enough to eat off it. Made sure by mid day it was dry, and ready for the cosmoline. By evening I was done dripping with sweat. Trotted over to my dock, and took a jump in the lake, it never felt so great.
All in all 3 years later all the cosmoline is still in tact. Except for the chassis looking dirty, you'll find zero rust, not even around the leafs.

can't wait for upper 90s if they get here its in July or August and i do not sweat well at all
i think that brakleen dries stuff up REAL fast

After getting done with the afterwinter dirty tacobed scrub I spritzed the hose on the area that I applied that boeShield on the frame in wheelhouse area
It beaded up real sweet just like wax should

Hopefully it will last a lot longer than wax. I use to spray heavy duty silicon on my older compact 4x4 toyota pickups, but after a rain storm of two, you were back to square one.

focusing on the views of the cast-iron block on this rig

is cosmoline a good protectant to keep it from turning out as such

Only if it was done when new, but you don't put it on an engine, brakes or exhaust where heat is involved.

what does heat do to it?
i have not sprayed any on any exhaust pipes to find out!

Thought the Ridgeline was a unibody.

i know i thought so as well!?
